Mr Nizar Din

Mr Nizar Din is a British board-certified ophthalmologist with a specialist focus on cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. With extensive training in both the UK and internationally, he is dedicated to providing expert care and innovative treatments.
About
He received two scholarships to study medicine at Imperial College London, consistently ranked in the top 10 universities globally. During his time, he received numerous prizes and graduated with a distinction in medical sciences and was also awarded a bachelor of science honours degree in Surgery and Anaesthesia.
He was subsequently successful in obtaining a highly competitive sub-speciality ophthalmology placement in London, rotating through tertiary level eye hospitals. During his seven-year residency programme, he was awarded numerous awards for teaching, research and management. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2017. This culminated in securing the highly sought-after cornea and refractive fellowship at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2019.
Determined to gain further world-class experience, he was chosen as one of only two international fellows for the highly reputable cornea and refractive fellowship at the University of Toronto. He received numerous travel scholarships, including the Ethicon Fund and Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) International Fund. During this time, Mr Din performed complex modern corneal transplants (partial and full thickness), advanced cataract surgery, anterior segment reconstructions and corneal collagen cross-linking, pterygium and advanced cornea diseases management.
In recognition of his leadership skills and excellence, he was chosen as the Chief Fellow for the Department of Ophthalmology in Toronto. He completed his fellowship in 2022, and was awarded the prestigious Lim Memorial Award: “for exemplary excellence in surgical skill, kindness, intelligence and teaching skill.”
Mr Din is also one of the few specialists in London who has invested in an international refractive fellowship followed up by successfully completing an advanced post-graduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery at the University of Ulster. He also successfully passed the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Certificate of Laser Refractive Surgery. This allows him to perform modern lens and corneal refractive surgeries.
Mr. Din has a special interest in research and has published over 45 peer-reviewed publications in leading Ophthalmology journals. He regularly presents his research at various national and international conferences on topics ranging from general ophthalmology, cornea and refractive surgery. He was awarded the Best Ophthalmologist Under 40 Award at the International Society of Cornea, Stem Cells and Ocular Surface in Italy.
Additionally, he takes a keen interest in education and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows and was recognised for his exemplary training with the Outstanding Clinical Supervisor Award at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Mr Din now returns to London as a Consultant in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive surgery at Western Eye Hospital.
