Cataract Surgery
See the world more clearly. Restore vibrant vision and reclaim your quality of life with advanced cataract surgery.
Restoring clarity, restoring life
Globally, cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss. This common age-related condition occurs when the natural crystalline lens behind the iris and pupil becomes cloudy, leading to a reduction in vision.
Cataracts prevent light from focusing properly on the retina, resulting in symptoms such as:
Blurry vision
Haloes, especially at night
Poor night vision
Light sensitivity
Less vibrant vision
Everyone, if they live long enough, will develop cataracts. The symptoms make everyday activities such as reading, driving or enjoying time with loved ones increasingly difficult and less enjoyable.
Fortunately, cataract surgery is one of the safest and most effective procedures to restore clear vision. At SEON Vision, we have invested in the most advanced technologies to provide safe and effective surgery, along with advanced premium intraocular lenses tailored to each patient’s needs.
What is cataract surgery?
Cataract surgery is a minimally invasive procedure designed to remove the cloudy lens of the eye (the cataract) and replace it with a clear, artificial lens called an intraocular lens (IOL). This surgery typically takes less than 30 minutes and most patients experience significant improvements in their vision within a few days.
At SEON Vision, our experienced ophthalmologists use the latest technology and techniques to ensure the best possible outcomes for your eye health. We offer personalised care to help guide you through every step of the process - from diagnosis to recovery.
How can cataract surgery help me?
Restored vision
Cataract surgery improves clarity and quality of life by enhancing everyday activities, such as reading and driving.
Increased independence
Patients regain confidence in activities such as driving, cooking and navigating stairs. With modern premium lenses, excellent vision can often be achieved without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
Fast recovery and minimal discomfort
Cataract surgery is one of the safest and most commonly performed surgeries worldwide. Recovery time is short, with most patients returning to their usual daily routine within a few days.
Customised vision
SEON Vision offers advanced intraocular lenses for tailored solutions, including:
Astigmatism-correcting toric lenses
Multifocal lenses
Extended depth-of-focus lenses
Prevention of further vision loss
While cataract surgery doesn’t prevent cataracts from occurring, it stops the progression of vision impairment, preventing further vision loss.
Improved overall health and wellbeing
Cataract surgery helps patients feel more confident and socially engaged, enhancing their mental health and reducing the risks of conditions like dementia.
Long-term benefits
The effects of cataract surgery are typically lifelong, providing long-term improvements in vision and quality of life.

 Types of intraocular lenses
-
The most commonly used IOL, monofocal lenses provide clear vision at one distance - typically for either near or distance vision. Many patients opt for monofocal lenes to correct their distance vision and then use reading glasses for close-up tasks. While they’re an effective and cost-efficient option, they may not be the best choice for patients who want to see well at all distances, without needing to wear glasses.
-
Designed to offer clear vision at multiple distances, multifocal lenses are a great option for patients who want to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after surgery. These lenses allow many patients to enjoy enhanced vision across a wide range of activities, from reading to driving at night. However, they aren’t suitable for everyone - speak to your surgeon to see if you’re a good candidate for multifocal lenses.
-
Offering a continuous range of vision, these lenses enable excellent vision at far, intermediate and functional near distances, with fewer visual disturbances like glares or halos. With both eyes open, these lenses can provide sharp vision across a wide range, making them a good option for patients who want independence from glasses but may not be good candidates for a multifocal IOL.
-
If you have astigmatism (an irregular-shaped cornea), toric lenses may be the ideal choice for you. These lenses correct astigmatism while also providing clear vision at a single distance. Used in combination with other types of lenses, they can help patients achieve even clearer vision, reducing their dependence on glasses for near or distance tasks.
-
If you’ve already had cataract surgery with monofocal IOL, it may be possible to upgrade to multifocal or EDOF lenses for greater independence from glasses. This is done by placing the new, premium lenses on top of the monofocal IOL.

What to expect
-
Before your surgery, you will undergo a comprehensive eye examination and a detailed discussion about your vision goals. Based on your lifestyle and vision needs, the surgeon will recommend which IOL is right for you.
-
On the day of your surgery, dilation and antiseptic eye drops will be applied to prepare your eyes. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia using a minimally invasive technique to replace your cloudy natural lens with the chosen IOL. After surgery, you will receive immediate post-operative care and guidance in a recovery lounge.
-
Most patients resume their normal activities within a week, with their vision becoming increasingly stable over the following weeks. We’ll be with you every step of your journey. Your post-operative care will include regular follow up appointments to ensure the IOL remains correctly positioned.
